I aspire to be as funny as this post and my existence as revered as that of the Lamy Pico!

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Although I've always been a pencil/pen nerd (I have 24 Flairs on my desk), I'm new to fountain pens. I'm going to the 2024 DC Pen Show in August and now, feel compelled to read your archived newsletters to prepare for the event!

I fear I have much to learn.

Welcome! If you like this you would probably like I Dip Coffee Into Bananas and Toga's blogs too. (Might also recommend pen-show prep posts from Pen Addict and Well-Appointed Desk too, even though they have fewer goblin and Peter Murphy jokes.)

Okay, that 849 rollerball has me shook. Why is it so massive?!

Ricardo - I love your sense of humor! Took the opportunity this morning to peruse some of your posts and found myself chuckling, often. My wife has a Benu as well now, along with a half dozen great vintage & modern pens I’ve given her over the years in a vain attempt to keep her occasional flirtation with my highly vulnerable Omas Blue Royale at bay. She rightfully covets it because “it’s a pretty blue.”

The Benu is a sparkly blue and green faceted beauty that sits regally gathering dust in its kryptonite stand on her dresser, while disposable blue Uniball rollerballs get her daily love & attention. In fact, I’ve discovered that bringing home an occasional small bouquet of blue Uniballs may be more appreciated (and last longer) than flowers. 🤷🏽‍♂️YMMV

Oh, and the pen stuff you write about is great too. Keep it up!
