I've seen Metropolis *twice*, both times with live musical accompaniment, which definitely helps. Once was this: https://wexarts.org/film-video/metropolis-live-music-alloy-orchestra And the other time was with with live organ music, probably on Halloween, long ago. And I read niche pen blogs for fun!
OK, FANCY, but also are you absolutely sure that it was Metropolis? Because I have Metropolis on DVD somewhere and honestly can't tell you if I watched it or if I am just confusing it with the stock footage segments from Muppet Babies. I feel like this might be a common occurrence.
That matte black Avatar nib. The tines on mine were definitely fused shut by someone with welding certification, because the black coating had completely filled the slit. I had to have a nib specialist hacksaw it free. 🥲
UGH yes same. Mine is currently sitting on our kitchen counter with a brass shim shoved into it as a last-ditch effort before I put it back in storage, where it will stay for about six months until I get motivated enough to try again.
It's not even the first nib—the Avatar nib I'm working on is already a replacement for the one that originally came with the pen and also didn't work. Would have given up a long time ago but it does look cool.
Yo... 😔 I know what you mean though, I love the magnetic cap/material/clip and everything else except for the part where it doesn't work as a pen. I'll probably try to swap in a different brand nib once the disappointment goes from immeasurable to merely measurable.
Oh no - you got the Kaweco Sport Surprise experience, without even buying a Kaweco Sport! (Recently, many Kawecos have surprised their new owners by, ahem, their nib not having any slit at all.)
I was required to watch Metropolis and to write a paper on it. Thanks film school. The color/finish on this pen reminds me of my Desert Orange Pilot VP.
I have a copy that I had to buy for either a film-and-law class or because I was going through a phase where I wanted to watch all the Criterion films, back when that was a fairly achievable thing to do. I'm not sure which. And I still, to this day, am not sure if I actually watched all of it or am filling in gaps with Muppet Babies b-roll.

I would annoy the hell out of anyone around me with that click-thingie. Even just looking at the gif is somehow... satisfying.
And also put something where you can put the customisable things, but damn sure not the provided little blirps! (Smaller than blorps).
"blirps" captures that pretty perfectly.
