I would say the practicality of the ruler is exactly on par with the practicality of this being a fountain pen rather than a ballpoint, which is to say it's a precise function of love and shut up just be grateful it's here.

Literally. And it’s funny that you mention fixing glasses - mine fell apart during a job interview and I had a Majohn A1. Lemme tell you, useless as a screwdriver

ooh, spirit-level! My dad used to hand me his big level all the time and say it was a game to get all the bubbles between the lines at once and I never figured out he was just trying to keep me occupied and out of his hair...

I own a pen in the shape of a scorpion so it’s safe to say I’m not overly concerned with finding the One True Workhorse, but if I were really focused on the ultimate functional pen it’d be hard to beat this one. It’s like trying to find the ultimate sport utility vehicle: the answer is obviously a Transformer.
