Hi guys! I hope you are having an excellent week! I’m working through the cover design/copy-editing phase of publishing my book all month, plus outlining the second book in the series, while traveling half the month. (So, posts will be a little irregular when they arrive.)
Here are three nice things to take you through the weekend; as always, one is about stationery/pens.
Nice Thing #1: this free channel that only plays Murder, She Wrote all day
Do you have grim media fatigue? Do you get bummed out by the prospect of spending a half hour trying to find something to watch that isn’t a gritty re-imagining of Clifford the Big Red Dog?
Do you have a Roku?
Then good news! You get a free channel that only plays Murder, She Wrote.
Turn on your Roku, go to the “Live TV” option on the left, then you can either find it in the main scroll or drill down into the “Crime” category. That’s it. It’s just episodes of Murder, She Wrote all day, every day.
The episodes start at somewhat chaotic times, but that’s okay BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS ONE ON. There are “commercials breaks” but since they don’t seem to sell enough ad space to fill the time it’s often just a screen that’s like “we’ll be back soon!” in a nice early-1990’s public-access callback.
Nice Thing #2: this extremely fat pen
This is the Attila, by Jean-Pierre Lepine. It is a very fat pen.
Here it is next to a “normal” pen, a Papermate WriteBros.
If you have long fingers (context here) or dexterity needs (context here) that benefit from a big fat pen, then I can recommend this. 10/10 chonk.
I got this at Papier Plume because Lepine did another run of them. If they’re no longer available there, you can probably find one on Ebay because it’s also a pretty quirky-looking pen and there’ll be a good chance someone will be trying to offload it.
Nice Thing #3: the guy from Nerf Herder making music about food
Parry Gripp, the frontman for Nerf Herder, now makes music about food and animals. While very obviously for kids, it is also pretty enjoyable if you are an adult who had pre-workout on an empty stomach and now needs to burn off some energy before going to the gym.
This one is about breakfast burritos. It is called “Yum Yum Breakfast Burrito.”
This one is about chicken nuggets. It is a Crab Rave-tier song, which means I am only allowed to sing it at home on certain days because my wife is really tired of hearing it.
Finally, here is a song about a guinea pig bridge that really delivers on the premise.
Have a great weekend!
My TV has some free channels including one that is Portlandia 24/7, and I am here for it.
Hey, in the category of cozy mysteries, there is also Midsomer Murders, the long-running British series, for FREE, on Tubi. There are currently 23 seasons, yes TWENTY-THREE seasons available. Tubi also has ads, but they are not obnoxious.
